Summary:In this chapter is presented the historical information of wireless technology and its evolution in the recent years. The 5G architecture and its extensive multidimensional applications are described. The advantages of 5G are addressed. The physical layer design requirements in terms of millimeter-wave channel modeling, adaptive beamforming, and massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system implementation are elaborated. In addition, the media access control layer restoration requirements to support the modification in the physical layer, adaptive special beamforming, multiple access protocols, and simultaneous multicell operation requirements are deliberated. Further, the massive MIMO system requirements to support 5G technology are discussed. The future 6G wireless system and its key features and potential applications are presented.
