Summary:Biometrics is classified into verification and identification. Many researchers on the keystroke dynamics have treated the verification of a fixed short password which is used for the user login. In this research, we pay attention to the identification and investigate several characteristics of the keystroke dynamics in Japanese free text typing. We have extracted feature indices from the keystroke timing for each alphabet letter and two-letter combinations composed of a consonant and vowel in Japanese text. In this paper we investigate the influence of keyboard difference on personal identification by keystroke dynamics in Japanese free text typing. By evaluating the performance against changing keyboards, the robustness of our proposed method is examined.
