A New Implementation of Beam Forming Network with RF Digital Step Attenuators for Measuring mobile WiMAX Phase Array Antenna Pattern

Technical methodology of using the RF digital control beam forming network (BFN) as a measuring instrument for mobile WiMAX base station antenna is introduced. Detail design algorithm of the BFN by RF digital step attenuator is described. Some analysis data of optimal antenna element spacing are pre...

Summary:Technical methodology of using the RF digital control beam forming network (BFN) as a measuring instrument for mobile WiMAX base station antenna is introduced. Detail design algorithm of the BFN by RF digital step attenuator is described. Some analysis data of optimal antenna element spacing are presented. Performance of measuring a tested Butler matrix array antenna by BFN is evaluated. Some relevant equations of the phase and amplitude error parameters used in the Monte-Carlo simulation are derived.
