Summary:This paper presents a new method which is based on the double-terminal travelling wave and the topological structure of power grid for locating short-circuit fault in electric power system. The method doesn't depend on status information of the circuit breaker. Only some substations are necessarily being selected as monitors. When a fault occurs on one line, the monitor substation records the arrival time of the first voltage travelling wave in the transmission network. Then the fault-tolerant analysis and fusion processing are made according to the topological structure of power grid and all time difference of travelling wave. The results of simulation indicate that this method has strong fault tolerance and high fault location accuracy.
