Summary:The popularity of Oracle Application Express has grown exponentially over the past year, and according to statistics, it is still rising. This paper evaluates the suitability of Oracle Application Express for teaching students in the field of software development and the use of a database management system for application development. Oracle Application Express is usually running on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Autonomous database that is free for teachers and students, but if needed, it can also be deployed on a local Oracle database. Overall Oracle Application Express is a robust tool with many possibilities that is still being improved. It is easy to use for creating simple web applications, but if there is a demand to create bigger applications it also provides tools for creating custom algorithms and provides huge customization options.
