Summary: | In the face of the current pandemic, a rethink of the very concept of competitiveness and competitive advantage may be called for. A rethink that includes far higher degrees of cooperation with others, a focus on multiple stakeholders as opposed to a singular focus on shareholder wealth, and a rational focus on our environment and ecology. We have to think of smarter and more compassionate ways to address many of the pressing problems we face, including growing economic inequity and environmental degradation. Conversely, if we do not make significant changes in the way we do business, the problems we currently have are likely to get compounded. |
