Summary:Cancer presenting clinically with number of metabolic changes which are characterized by irreversible morphological and functional alterations in corresponding areas. The present study was undertaken in department of biochemistry from 1990 to 2011 and study comprised 500 patients suffering from different types of malignancies. The objectives of the present study was to investigate the patterns of metabolic changes in patients suffering from different malignancies (breast cancer, cancer cervix, prostate cancer, B-cell lymphoma, t-cell lymphoma) and compared it with healthy control subjects by estimating serum biochemical parameters like glucose, urea, creatinine, uric acid, alkaline phasphatase, SGOT, SGPT, Total protein, albumin, MDA. The serum levels of above biochemical parameters were significantly changed in study patients compared to control group (p<0.001). However there was significant difference in serum MDA levels (p< 0.05) between different malignancies. Among all malignancies NHL T-cell lymphoma patient shows highly significant alteration in their biochemical parameters.
