| Abstract | Este dosier indaga en el papel que históricamente han desempeñado y actualmente desempeñan la traducción y la interpretación en contextos reales marcados por hostilidades y conflictos, abiertos o soterrados, y en sociedades en las que las subjetividades, ideologías y culturas, lejos de coexistir y dialogar, chocan y compiten en la esfera real o en el plano simbólico de los textos y las representaciones. Así, aglutina artículos que analizan la relación entre traducción y conflicto tanto en enfrentamientos bélicos como en escenarios simbólicos altamente politizados. Esta colección de artículos contribuye a avanzar en una traductología y una praxis traductora consciente de las enormes complejidades de todo acercamiento al Otro y todo trasvase intercultural. Se aportan nuevas perspectivas para que la profesión y la investigación sigan intentando cumplir con expectativas irrenunciables, entre ellas la profesionalidad, la responsabilidad y el compromiso ético. |

This dossier researches the role which has historically been andwhich is currently being played by translation and interpretingin real contexts marked by either overt or covert hostilities andconflicts, and in societies in which subjectivities, ideologies andcultures do not merely coexist and dialogue, but also clash andcompete at the symbolic level of texts and representations. In this regard, it includes articles that analyze the relationship between translation and conflict in war contexts as well as in highly politicized symbolic scenarios. This collection of articles contributes to new avenues in translation theory and practice which depart from an awareness of the enormous complexities in every approach to the Other and every intercultural transfer. Thus, it provides new perspectives which aid professionals and researchers in their efforts to honour incontestable expectations, including professionalism, responsibility and ethical commitment.
