Based on the practice in Retrospective Bibliographic Database of the library of Inner Mongolia agricultural university, this paper introduced procedure of retrospective construction of database. It has prepared for books processing, the basis for re trospective bibliographic database, cataloging rules and cataloguing personnel training, and advanced methods of applying existing data and making catalogues by ourselves and catalogue description of multi-volume books. Author put forward some ideas on problems of retrospective bibliographic database of western language books
