Objective To explore the effect of bone morphogenetic protein( BMP) combined with strontium ranelate( SR) on osteoblast proliferation and differentiation,and to provide a cytological basis for the feasibility of combination therapy. Methods Osteoblasts obtained from SD rat were randomly divided into 4 groups: control group,SR group,BMP group and BMP-SR group.The cell culture was supplemented with placebo,SR,BMP-2 and SR combined with BMP. After 12 days of culture,the proliferation of cells was detected by MTT assay. The functional status of cells was observed by ALP and alizarin red staining. The expression of OCN and Runx2 protein was observed by protein electrophoresis. Results SR and BMP-2 could significantly promote the proliferation of osteoblasts,increase the activity and mineralization ability of osteoblasts,and promote the expression of OCN and Runx2 protein.
