Fishing data are the basement of fisheries science research, but currently the source of fishing data is extraordinarily scarce, and data quality is poor in some aspects. Satellite low light sensors can detect the light-fishing vessels at night, however, its application in pelagic fishery has been limited by the lack of an algorithm for extracting the location and brightness of operating pelagic light-fishing vessels. An examination of operating pelagic light-fishing vessels features in the day/night band (DNB)
