GIS technology is a main technical precondition for the application of fractal theory in the study of land use. So, this article detailedly illustrates the two directions of fraetal theory application in the study of land use, and emphatically analyzes the supports of GIS technology to the application of fractal theory in the study of land use, including data extraction, analysis, calcula- tion, and so on. Based on this, the applied prospects of combining GIS technology with fractal theory were discussed.
