A signal generator,devoted to excite ultrasonic guided waves in the pipeline,is designed based on SoPC technology in the paper. The design method of DDS IP is elaborated mainly. The generator which is made up of a piece of FPGA chip and a few necessary peripheral hardware circuits , using the MicroBlaze soft core as the central processor, is easy to expand. The experiment results show that the output signal is high precision, low noise, good stability, and the frequency can be adjusted continuously. It can be conveniently applied to ultrasonic guided waves inspection in the pipeline.
