The principle and properties of the direct power control( DPC) system for present three phase PWM rectifiers has been analyzed in this paper through the mathematical model. Switching table in power loop of traditional DPC system controls active power and reactive power instantaneously. Thus the system dynamic and static performance mainly depends on the design of the switching table. In order to meet different control requirements,the switching table design methods are analyzed in detail,and an improved switching table is designed to overcome the shortcomings of the traditional ways,which will obtain good power control effect. Simulation results verify the novel switching table design method.
