Summary:A 63-year-old woman developed consecutive visual loss in the presence of chronic renal failure on hemodyalisis, arterial hypertension, and pulmonary hypertension treated with sildenafil. Temporal artery biopsy was negative for giant cell arteritis. Bilateral, consecutive non-arteritic ischemic optic neuropathy was diagnosed. The implications and potential risk of sildenafil use in women are discussed.
