| Summary: | This paper presents closed form expressions for Green functions of vibrating homogeneous Euler-Bernoulli beams subjected to constant axial preload, such as can arise from inertial effects in the case of appendages on a spinning spacecraft or can be induced mechanically. These functions are efficiently applied to the solution of vibration problems involving a beam-column connected through pins and/or elastically to ground and carrying discrete substructures of arbitrary complexity. An example for the free vibration of such a system is presented. (I.S.) |
