Summary:This article recounts Sally Newman's important role as a visionary pioneer that shapes the intergenerational field in the U.S. and beyond. She launched Generations Together in education, was pivotal in the setting up of the International Consortium for Intergenerational Programs to outreach internationally, and was the founding editor-in-chief of the Journal of Intergenerational Relationships to establish the field of intergenerational studies. Among her wide range of efforts, Sally keenly advocated for older adults to work in child care centers, and she was also deeply invested in college and university students' engaging in intergenerational service. While these efforts had slowed down with her retirement, they remained as significant initiatives that expanded the reach of intergenerational practices across educational institutions and social services.
