Summary: | Kher et al discuss the case study of a 65-year-old woman who presented to the pulmonary clinic for evaluation of bilateral pulmonary opacities noted incidentally on thoracic spine imaging performed for chronic back pain. She reported night sweats and a 20-pound weight loss over the previous year, as well as a 10-pack-year smoking history. The result of a review of her systems was otherwise unremarkable, and she had no significant environmental exposures. The result of her physical examination was normal. The patient underwent a diagnostic video-assisted thoracoscope surgical biopsy of the right upper and middle lobes. Histopathologic findings showed diffuse infiltrate of large cells with abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm and medium, monomorphic, round to oval nuclei with pale chromatin. |
