Summary:This study evaluated a usefulness of Double Phased Helical CT for detection of hypervascular hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Double Phased Helical CT can scan a whole liver at both arterial and portal phase with single-breath-hold after bolus injection of contrast material. We examined 44 lesions of hypervascular HCC confirmed by angio CT using Double Phased Helical CT. Thirtyfive of 44 lesions (79.5%) were detected with contrast enhancement at arterial phase. But we could not detect 9 lesions. Two of the 9 lesions were not detected due to poor contrast enhancement of the liver. Seven of the 9 lesions were smaller than 2cm in diameter. Double Phased Helical CT was useful for the diagnosis of hypervascular hepatocellular carcinoma. Double Phased Helical CT is a novel method of CT to study the image of hypervascular hepatocellular carcinoma.
