Summary:A 60-year-old woman complaining of abdominal pain was admitted to the hospital under the diagnosis of ileus. Abdominal CT scan revealed a tumor of the ascending colon which might cause ileus. Symptomatic remission was attained by suction decompression using an intestinal tube. But on the 6th day after the insertion of the tube, the patient had a pain in the left upper abdomen. The tumor was palpable in the same region. Emergency abdominal CT scan revealed intussusception of tha small intestine at where the tube was induced. Emergency operation was performed on the same day. During operation, a jejuno-jejunal intussusception about 30cm in length was observed at about 90cm from the ligament of Treitz. A head of the intestinal tube was recognized to reach to the terminal ileum. Intussusception could be repaired manually. Simultaneously, cancer of the ascending colon was observed and a right hemicolectomy was performed. In this paper a case of intussusception probably caused by an intestinal tube is reported with a review of the literature.
