Summary: | Heart failure is a geriatric syndrome, often accompanied by a high disability rate, complex comorbidities, and a poor prognosis. This study aimed to assess the effect of Astragalus on the vitamin D- fibroblast growth factor 23/fibroblast growth factor receptor 1-KLOTHO axis in elderly heart failure patients using a bioinformatics approach. Thirteen active ingredients and 159 targets were identified based on network pharmacology, and 500 HF targets were obtained using GeneCards database. A predicted target set was established using 22 core targets, and a diagram of the active component-target network was constructed using Cytoscape software (version 3.7.2); a protein-protein interaction network was constructed for analysis, and the Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway enrichment were analyzed using DAVID software. Bioinformatics analyses revealed that 22 targets were mainly involved in the Ras and PI3K-Akt signaling pathways. Molecular docking for fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 revealed that the active components HMM7 and HMM13 demonstrated better binding stability with the target gene. This study may help explain the molecular mechanism of effects on vitamin D- fibroblast growth factor 23/fibroblast growth factor receptor 1-KLOTHO axis and promote clinical application. |
