Summary:Make-up cosmetic consisting of dispersed pigments such as titanium dioxide, iron-oxide and pearlescent pigments is one of the coloring materials. Quantitative estimation of the effect of make-up cosmetic has been a very challenging problem because the effect is very dependent on the properties of human skin. In order to evaluate the appearance of make-up skin quantitatively, we have developed the multiangle image capturing system that has 21 digital cameras and 40 light sources that are mounted on a hemispherical gantry, and the images of object under the multiple views are captured simultaneously. Using this system, we compared the color changes dependant on the observation angle between aged skin and beautiful skin, and then we found some differences in the specular region. Based on this result, we attempted to develop a coloring material which can give higher chroma in the specular region.
