Summary:Subject of research is Ukrainian informal youth editions in the 80s-90s of the 20th century, which are the part of collections of leading libraries in Lviv. The purpose of the article is to carry out a comprehensive analysis of libraries collections in Lviv for the presence of Ukrainian informal youth editions 1985-1991. Methodology research is based on the use of a complex of scientific principles and research methods. In particular, the principles of historicism, objectivity, systematicity, comprehensiveness, as well as general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis, comparison and generalization, are applied. The scientific novelty of the research results lies in the fact that: 1) collections of such libraries as: Vasyl Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv, Lviv Regional Universal Scientific Library, Scientific Library of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Library of the Ukrainian Catholic University were examined; 2) it was revealed that in the libraries storages there are 43 titles of Ukrainian informal youth editions 1985-1991; 3) it was found out that such press also has a political char acter, because most of the youth organizations formed in the Ukrainian SSR fought for the declaration of an independent and sovereign state of Ukraine, built on democratic principles of governance. Conclusions. Ukrainian informal youth editions (1985-1991) are of a historical value and act as an important source in the reproduction of national history. These editions are documentary sources, which are capable of significantly supplementing, deepening and expanding the boundaries of research in such fields of knowledge as history, journalism, political science, cultural studies, philosophy, and social communications. The register of Ukrainian informal youth editions (1985-1991) presented in the article is an interesting and useful material for study the history of the Ukrainian press and publishing in the 80s-90s of the 20th century.
