Summary:Traditionally, most of the digital newspaper archive systems used all of the report contents to create a complete database. One of the advantages is the collection can cover a broad range of subjects; however the database could he too huge to be made value-add deeply. Therefore, this paper proposes a thematic approach for constructing a digital newspaper archive, and uses the historical reports of Taiwan baseball, which is provided by United Daily News, as case study. First, we work on the system analysis and establishment, then we study on the semantic description and the metadata conversion, such that the resulting digital archive system can he more useful.
傳統上，報紙數位典藏系統大多採取將所有新聞內容納入資料庫的作法，其優點是涵蓋面較廣，可以收錄各式各樣的主題；缺點則是資料庫龐大，深度加值不易。因此，本研究提出以「主題式」方式進行新聞的數位典藏與加值利用，並以聯合報的台灣棒球運動歷史性新聞為例，先進行系統分析與建置，再探討內容語意描述及Metadata轉換，使其成為更具利用價值的數位典藏庫
