Abstract_FL This experiment was to study the effects of compound Chinese herbal additives on growth per-formance,antioxidant capacity,slaughter performance and economic benefit of Sanhuang chickens.A to-tal of 288 1-day-old Sanhuang chickens were randomly divided into 4 groups with 6 replicates per group and 12 chickens per replicate.Group A was the control group,and groups B,C and D were fed 0.5%,1.0%and 2.0%compound Chinese herbs,respectively,for 56 days.The results showed as follows:from day 1 to day 56,compared with group A,FBW,ADG and ADFI in groups B and C were signifi-cantly increased(P<0.05);there were no significant differences in T-SOD,T-AOC and GSH-Px activi-ties in experimental groups(P>0.05),but MDA content in group C was significantly decreased(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in slaughter rate,half evisceration rate,full evisceration rate,chest muscle rate and abdominal fat rate in experi-mental groups(P>0.05),while leg muscle rate in group C was significantly increased(P<0.05).The total gross profit and average gross profit of the ex-perimental group were improved.In conclusion,the compound Chinese herbs used in this experi-ment can improve the growth performance and slaughter performance of Sanhuang chickens,en-hance the antioxidant capacity,and make San-huang chickens obtain higher economic benefits,the optimal additive dosage is 1.0%.
