Abstract | Aspects of the present disclosure relate to a system including a computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program and a method for performing operations including: receiving, by a messaging application, an image from a camera of a user device; receiving an input selecting a user-customizable effect option for activating the user-customizable effect mode; in response to receiving the input, displaying an array of the plurality of effect options along with an image proximate the user-customizable effect option; and applying a first effect associated with a first effect option of the plurality of effect options to the image.
