Abstract | This paper presents an investigation about assessment in mathematical modelling. The theo-retical framework includes approaches, perspectives and purposes for modelling as well as relevant ele-ments regarding evaluation in mathematical modeling and the goal of the paper is to structure a tool for assessment in modelling activities. The tool proposes that assessment in modelling activities should in-corporate three dimensions: doing mathematical modelling; the use of mathematics; understanding the real situation. These dimensions are associated with aspects and criteria and a scoring scale that generates a grade. The flexibility of the score, allowing the teacher to assess according to their purposes and the modelling perspective they are using, is an innovativeaspect in relation to assessment in mathematical modelling. The analysis of the tool by three teachers includes: pertinence, adequacy and relevance of di-mensions, aspects and criteria; scoring scale efficiency; tool operability. This analysis results thatthe tool is operational, valid and efficient to evaluate in modelling activities
Este artigo apresenta uma investigação acerca da avaliação em modelagem. O quadro teórico inclui abordagens, perspectivas e propósitos para a modelagem bem como elementos relevantes com re-lação à avaliação em modelagem e o objetivo consiste em estruturar uma ferramenta para avaliação em atividades dessa natureza. A ferramenta propõe que essa avaliação deve incorporar três dimensões: do fa-zer modelagem matemática; do uso da matemática; da compreensão da situação da realidade. A estas di-mensões são associadosaspectos e critérios e uma escala de pontuação que gera uma nota.
