Scientists have modelled swarming and this has led to the development of swarm intelligence as a component of artificial intelligence. A computer program called Boids was developed. The boids framework often is used in computer graphics to provide realistic‐looking representations of flocks of birds and other creatures, such as schools of fish or herds of animals. Particle swarm optimization is an algorithm that is simple and easy to implement. A major application of swarm intelligence is the control of swarms of robots and drones. A number of academic studies have shown SWARM to significantly improve the accuracy of insights generated from human groups. The use of SWARM has moved beyond academia and is being used, for example, to improve the design of aircraft cockpits, predict sales of clothing lines, and to improve clinical diagnoses. |
