온신학을 위한 온전한 복음 이해

‘온전한 복음’은 20세기 후반 많은 세계교회들이 기존의 편협한 복음 이해를 넘어서 복음에 대한 온전한 이해를 추구하는 과정에서 등장한 표현이다. 하지만 세계 복음주의 교회들과 세계 에큐메니칼 교회들은 ‘온전한 복음’이라는 동일한 문구를 사용하면서도 그 구체적인 내용에 대해서 여전히 서로 다른 이해를 갖고 있으며, 그로 인해서 삼위일체 하나님의 선교의 궁극적인 목적, 선교의 다양한측면들 사이의 관계 및 우선순위, 복음전도의 내용과 방식 등에 있어서 서로 다른주장을 펼치고 있다. 이러한 문제의식에서 출발하는 본 논문은 ‘온전한 복음’을 추구하고 있는 로잔운동과 세계교회협의회를 중심으로 최근 세계 복음주의 교회들과 세계 에큐메니칼 교회들의 복음 정의를 비판적으로 분석한다. 그러고 나서 ‘예수 그리스도의 복음’이 가지는 두 가지 의미에 대한 상호보완적인 해석과 예수 그리스도 사건에 대한 삼위일체론적 이해를 실마리로 삼아, 양 진영이 모두 공감할수 있는 온전한 복음 이해를 위한 네 개의 명제를 기독론적 규범(“온전한 복음은예수 그리스도의 복음이다”), 삼위일체론적 주체(“온전한 복음은 삼위일체 하나님의 복음이다”), 종말론적 내용(“온전한 복음은 하나님 나라의 복음이다”), 창조론적 지평(“온전한 복음은 온 세상의 풍성한 생명을 향한 복음이다”)의 관점에서제안하고자 한다. 마지막 결론에서는 이상의 논의를 바탕으로 온전한 복음에 기초한 온신학이 앞으로 더욱 발전하기 위해서 예수 그리스도의 복음 이야기에 천착하는 신학, 삼위일체 하나님의 섭리와 뜻을 헤아리는 신학, 현실변혁적 하나님나라의 신학, 건강한 교회를 세우고 살리는 교회개혁적 신학이 되어야 한다는 점을 역설할 것이다. In the late 20th century a great number of both the world’s evangelical and ecumenical churches committed themselves to the motto of ‘the whole church, the whole world, the whole gospel,’ by which they attempted to overcome previous narrow concepts of the gospel. Still, there are significant divergences between the two groups—in my judgment, primarily due to their different definitions of ‘the whole gospel.’ For this reason evangelical and ecumenical churches have different ideas of the ultimate goal of the mission of the triune God, the priority among diverse aspects of mission including evangelism, and the content and ways of evangelism. With this situation in mind this article seeks to contribute to their deeper unity in a common understanding of the whole gospel. First, I critically analyze several definitions of the whole gospel in both evangelical and ecumenical churches as represented in their recent official documents. On the foundations of a fresh interpretation of the twofold meaning of ‘the gospel of Jesus Christ’ and a trinitarian understanding of the event of Jesus Christ, then, I propose four theses concerning the whole gospel: the whole gospel is the gospel of Jesus Christ (norm), the gospel of the triune God (subject), the gospel of the reign of God (content), and the gospel of the fullness of life for all living creatures (horizon).
