Abstract This study aims to evaluate the reproductive potentiality of Octopus vulgaris to provide basic reproductive information for the management of biological resources. Samples were collected from May 2022 to September 2023 using octopus pots and drum-shaped nets in Yeosu and Wando, with a total of 1,821 individuals ranging in total weight from 64.5 to 1,598.5 g. The sex ratio (F:M) was 1:0.82 (n=1,001:820, 55.0% female), indicating a significantly higher proportion of females (p<0.05). The 50% maturity total weight in females was 169.3 g. In females, absolute fecundity was 116,602.7 eggs per individual, which was positively correlated with total weight. Relative fecundity was analyzed to be 123.8 eggs per gram in total weight. In males, the absolute fecundity was 123.9 spermatophores per individual, and the relative fecundity was 0.23 spermatophores per gram in total weight.
