‘홍순언 설화’와 利他的 心性의 作話力

조선후기에 ‘홍순언 설화’는 여러 버전으로 만들어지며 널리 전파되었다. 그것은 매우 흥미로운 이야기이기는 하지만, 사실이 아니다. 그것은 ‘이타―보상’이란 구조에 홍순언의 이타적 행위, 종계변무, 明의 파병 등의 디테일을 얹어 築造한 이야기일 뿐이다. 중요한 것은 ‘홍순언 설화’를 축조한 機制다. 그것은 인간 내부의 심층에 존재하는 이타적 心性의 작화력이 ‘이타―보상’이란 구조를 통해 만들어낸 이야기였던 것이다. 이타적 심성의 작화력이 생산한 이야기들은 조선후기의 여러 문헌에서도 공통적으로 발견된다. 그것은 디테일만 다를 뿐, ‘이타―보상’의 구조에 디테일을 달리하면서 수많은 이야기를 생산해낸 것으로 보인다. 이 논문에서 거론한 ‘홍순언 설화’를 비롯한 이타적 행위를 제재로 삼은 작품들을 과거의 낡은 문학적 관습의 생산물로 볼 필요는 없을 것이다. 도리어 ‘이기적 인간본성’이란 규정 위에 성립한 근대 자본주의 문명에서, 이 이타적 심성의 작화력이 갖는 의미를 따져보아야 하지 않을까? During the late Joseon Dynasty, Hong Soon-eon Story was maked in various editions and widely disseminated. It's an very interesting story, but it's not true. It has a structure called 'Altruistic nature-Compensation', and it is just a story built by adding details such as Hong Soon-eon's altruistic behavior, Jonggyebyeonmu(宗系辨誣), Ming's dispatch of troops. What is important is the organization that created the "Hong Soon-eon tale". It is a story created by meeting altruistic nature, which exists deep inside humans and the story structure of 'Altruistic nature-Compensation'. It's a story created by the work of altruistic nature deep inside humans that meets the structure of the story of 'Altruistic nature-Compensation'. Works expressing altruistic nature are also found in various literature in the late Joseon period. It is only different in detail. In other words, many stories were produced with different details in the structure of 'Altruistic nature-Compensation'. There is no need to regard works based on altruistic acts such as "Hong Soon-eon's tale" as literary customs in the past.
