Summary:This study explored the perception and production of English stops and fricatives among Korean college Students by conducting perception and production experiments. Total 92 college students participated in the experiments and words beginning with one of the fricatives and stops /p, b, t, d, k, g, f, v, ɵ, ð, s, z, ʃ/ were used in the experiments. In particular 158 words were used in perception test and 52 words were used in production test. The overall result from the perception test showed that the participants had a great difficulty with the sound /v, ɵ, ð/ which is not in the Korean consonant. As for production, the participants had difficulty with the sounds /ð, v, z, ɵ/. Even though the results from the production tests are consistent with those of the perception test, some discrepancy was found especially in the perception and production of /z/, /ɵ/, and /ð/. And there was some teaching implications of English stops and fricatives. KCI Citation Count: 0
