Abstract The structural strength of a rotor/gearbox mount structure for a mid-sized unmanned aerial vehicle was evaluated using cross-sectional analysis techniques. Commercial software MSC NASTRAN/PATRAN was employed to analyze structures under seven different external load conditions. Internal loads on front and rear metal mount structures were calculated, followed by an evaluation of structural strength through section analysis. Component sizing of metal structures was performed according to industrial standards based on calculated margin of safety. Strength evaluation revealed a negative margin of safety for a tubular structure under various combined loading conditions. Through component sizing, the tubular structure was resized from an initial outer diameter of 25.4 mm and a thickness of 1.6 mm to an outer diameter of 31.8 mm and a thickness of 3 mm, ensuring compliance with required safety standards. These sizing processes and results are anticipated to contribute to the design of metal rotor/gearbox mount structures for mid-sized unmanned aerial vehicles. 본 연구에서는 단면해석 기법에 기반하여 중형급 무인 항공기의 로터/기어박스 마운트 구조물에 대한 구조 강도를 평가하였다. 상용 해석 프로그램인 MSC NASTRAN/PATRAN을 사용하여 7 가지의 운용 조건을 고려한 하중 조건에 대해서 구조 해석을 수행하였고, 전, 후방에 위치한 금속재 마운트 구조물에 대한 내부하중을 산출하였다. 이후 단면해석 기법을 통해 마운트 구조물에 대한 구조 강도를 평가하였고, 안전여유를 기준으로 산업 규격에 준하여 사이징을 수행하였다. 구조 강도 평가 결과, 복합 하중에서 관형 구조의 안전여유가 음의 값이 산출되었음을 확인하였고, 초기 외경 25.40 mm, 두께 1.60 mm의 관형 구조를 외경 31.80 mm, 두께 3.00 mm로 사이징을 완료하였다. 이러한 사이징 절차와 결과는 향후 중형급 무인 항공기의 금속재 로터/기어박스 마운트 구조물 설계에 기여할 것으로 기대한다.
