마르크스주의 정치이론의 재구성: ‘자본주의적 민주주의의 재구성’ 이론

기존의 마르크스주의에서는 ‘경제투쟁과 정치투쟁의 상호작용 → 정치혁명’이라는 이론적 틀로써 정치 전략을 설정하는 경향이 지배적이었다. 그러나 메자로스(Meszaros, I.)가 지적하는 대로 이 틀로는 정치혁명을 위한 단기적이고 당면한 정치 전략을 설정할 수 없어, 마르크스주의에는 유의미한 정치이론이 없다는 비판이 나올 여지를 제공했다. 그러나 마르크스나 엥겔스에는 정치혁명의 요체인 자본주의 국가형태의 모순은 자본주의 국가형태를 구성하는 “민주적 제도 및 권리 복합체의 두 측면”, 즉 “민주주의적 협잡”의 측면과 “민주적 형태들이 새로운 사회적(계급) 내용을 갖게” 되는 측면의 대립 및 경합을 수반하게 되며, 따라서 이 모순의 해소는 후자의 측면이 우세하게끔 자본주의적 민주주의를 재구성하는 것에 의존한다는 논지도 있다. 이 논지가 정치혁명의 수행에서 중요한 위상을 차지할 수 있다는 점을 감안하면 ‘경제투쟁과 정치투쟁의 상호작용 → 자본주의적 민주주의의 재구성 → 정치혁명’이라는 이론적 틀이 설정될 수 있고, 아울러 당면한 정치 전략을 모색할 수 있는 이론적 근거 또한 이 논지를 더욱더 정교화하는 차원에서 구비될 수 있다. 이러한 점에서 마르크스주의 정치이론은 ‘자본주의적 민주주의의 재구성’ 이론으로 파악할 수 있다. The marxist political strategy has been set up on the basis of the theoretical framework of ‘the interaction of economic and political struggles → political revolution’. But as Meszaros points out, a short-term marxist political strategy can not be set-up on the framework, and the fact has been causing criticisms of the absence of meaningful theory of marxist politics. But in Marx and Engels, there is an argument that the contradiction of the capitalist state-form, which is the key factor of political revolution, involve the confrontations and struggles between “the two sides of the complex of democratic institutions and rights”, i.e. the side of “democratic swindle” and the side of “the struggle to give the democratic forms a new social(class) content”, and this contradiction finds out its own solution in reframing the capitalist democracy, the side of “the struggle to give the democratic forms a new social(class) content” becoming influential. Therefore making due allowance for the significant role of the argument in political revolution, another theoretical framework of ‘the interaction of economic and political struggles → a reframing of the capitalist democracy → political revolution’ can be set up, and theoretical bases for setting up immediate political strategies can be also prepared, elaborating the argument of reframing the capitalist democracy. In this sense, the marxist theory of politics can be apprehended as a ‘theory of the reframing of capitalist democracy’.
