肉用鶏に発生した十二指腸の線毛性前腸性囊胞

| AbstractList | A 48-day-old broiler chicken with ciliated foregut cyst (CFC) of the duodenum was subjected to pathological investigation. The ellipsoidal cyst, measuring 70 mm in the greatest dimension, was closely attached to the proximal descending and distal ascending parts of the duodenum and compressed the organ. The cyst was unilocular and possessed pale yellow mucus in the lumen. The cystic serosa was thickened and accompanied with sporadic yellowish-brown caseous lesions. Histologically, the cystic wall consisted of lining epithelia, subepithelial connective tissue, smooth muscular tissue and fibrous capsules. The lining epithelia were pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelia with occasional goblet cells and mucous glands. Based on the results obtained, the examined case was diagnosed as a CFC of the duodenum. As concomitant lesions, chronic purulent serositis and heterotopic pancreas in the cystic wall as well as fibrinous thrombi in venules distributed in close proximity to the cyst were found, and the relationships between both the cystic anatomical position and serositis and between the cyst size and thrombi were inferred. This is the first report of a CFC of the duodenum in a chicken.
