ガゴメ昆布由来フコイダンの健常成人の免疫機能への有効性ならびに安全性の評価

Abstract | フコイダンは褐藻類に含まれる硫酸化多糖である.われわれは,これまでに北海道函館近海に生育するガゴメ昆布のフコイダンに注目して,その化学構造を決定するとともに,動物試験やin vitro試験において免疫賦活作用を明らかにしてきた.本研究では,健常成人の免疫機能に対する有効性や安全性を評価した.30名の被験者に4週間,ガゴメ昆布フコイダンを含む食品(1日あたりフコイダンとして200 mg)またはプラセボ食品を摂取してもらい,全血液細胞におけるサイトカイン産生能の評価を行った.その結果,プラセボ食品摂取群においては摂取前後で多くのサイトカイン産生能の低下が認められたが,ガゴメ昆布フコイダン摂取群ではその低下が抑えられ,特にIFN-γやIL-2などのTh1型のサイトカインにおいてその作用が顕著であった.また,血液検査,尿検査においては臨床上問題となる症状は認められず,有害事象も認められなかった.以上の結果から,ガゴメ昆布由来フコイダンは健常者の免疫機能の低下予防や維持に有効な,安全な食品であることが示唆された. |
