Abstract はじめに 腰痛は, 先進諸国の国民の70%以上が生涯のいずれかの時点で経験する1)といわれているほど頻度が高い疾患である. 日本における有訴者率では, 男性(25～84歳)では腰痛が1位, 肩こりが2位であり, 女性の15～64歳では, 1位肩こり, 2位腰痛, 65歳以上では1位腰痛, 2位手足の関節痛であった2). このように, 腰痛は非常に多くの人々が悩んでいる疾患であり, 生活習慣病の1つともいわれている. 腰痛の定義としては, 肋骨縁の下方から下殿部ひだの上方にかけて局在する疼痛, 筋緊張, あるいは硬直であり, 下肢疼痛を伴う場合と伴わない場合がある3)とされている. 腰痛症(非特異的腰痛)とは, 認識できる病因(感染, 腫瘍, 骨粗鬆症, 関節リウマチ, 骨折, 炎症など)に起因しない腰痛である4, 5). 腰痛症の発症様式では, 急性と慢性に分類される. 急性腰痛症の90%は6週間以内に回復し通常自然治癒するが, 2～7%は慢性になる6)といわれている. 慢性腰痛症とは, 発症から3ヵ月以上継続する腰痛症であり, 明らかな神経学的脱落所見を伴わない5)とされている.
