Abstract Eimeria 属はアピコンプレックス門(Apicomplexa)に属しコクシジウム症を引き起こす寄生性の原生生物の一属である。家畜や家禽での研究報告が多いが,野生動物や動物園飼育動物のEimeria 属に関する報告も多数ある。ニホンカモシカ(Capricorniscrispus)は偶蹄目の一種であり,国の特別天然記念物に指定されている。ニホンカモシカのEimeria 属に関する研究は,形態学的特徴が報告されているが,遺伝的系統に関する報告はまだない。そこで,本研究では,動物園で飼育されるニホンカモシカにおけるコクシジウムの形態,遺伝的系統を明らかにすることを目的とした。2021 年及び2022 年に対象の動物園で飼育されているニホンカモシカから採取された糞便を用いた。方法は顕微鏡による直接観察法での検出と形態観察,PCR による分子系統解析を行った。形態観察の結果71.4%(5/7)からEimeria 属のオーシストが確認された。遺伝子解析の結果,偶蹄目に寄生するコクシジウムと同じグループを形成し,98% 以上の高い相同性があることが分かった。また,ニホンカモシカに寄生するEimeria 属は他偶蹄目に寄生するEimeria 属とは異なる種であることが示唆された。さらなる遺伝的系統を明らかにし,カモシカに寄生するEimeria属の種同定に役立てられることを期待したい。
