A consistency maintenance algorithm with cursor position maintenance in real-time cooperative editing systems based on GOT algorithm
Consistency maintenance is a fundamental issue in real-time cooperative editing systems. Generally, GOT algorithm is more capable to maintain consistency of documents due to its independence of C2, while other operational transformation algorithms may rely on C2 which is difficult to verify. But GOT...

| Summary: | Consistency maintenance is a fundamental issue in real-time cooperative editing systems. Generally, GOT algorithm is more capable to maintain consistency of documents due to its independence of C2, while other operational transformation algorithms may rely on C2 which is difficult to verify. But GOT algorithm doesn 't refer to cursor position maintenance which is very important in an editing system. In this paper, a cursor position maintenance algorithm is proposed to improve GOT algorithm. With the improved algorithm, the cursor position of shared documents will be recalculated after each operation has been executed, thus the consistency of shared document will be maintained and the cursor will be maintained at its correct position at each site. |
