Abstract Sun is one of the biggest sources of renewable energy. This energy recieved from the sun could be easily converted into electricity with the help of semiconductor materials, primarily silicon. These materials are used to create solar panels. Over the years, Solar PV technology has become the go-to source of renewable electricity generation systems due to its advantages compared to other sources of energy. The increasing consciousness of the effects of fossil fuels has accelerated its adoption. With the exponential adoption of solar systems, the requirement of an efficient sub-processes for the same is increasing. A monitoring system, especially at a large scale, has become necessity due to the increasing scale and efficiency concerns. The paper aims to provide a solution for the same utilizing the advancements of Internet of Things technology (IoT), wherein the entire system is monitored using a central unit and data transfer reliant on internet connections. The proposed system automates the process of monitoring at panel level and assists in the maintenance and diagnosis routinely, by the inclusion of IoT reducing human interventions and at a low cost giving timely alerts whenever power generation issues arise.
