Abstract_FL The effects of applying potassium fertilizer at different stages and in different proportions on the physical properties , main chemical compositions, neutral aroma components , and sensory quality of flue-cured tobacco leaves were studied through field experiments conducted in Xiangyang city , Hubei province.The results showed that applying potassium fertilizer at several stages could improve the physical properties of flue -cured tobacco, harmonize the chemical compositions in tobacco leaves , significantly increase the potassium content and organic potassium index of baked tobacco leaves , enhance the content of some important neutral aroma components, and get higher score of sensory quality evaluation .Among various treatments, applying potassium fertilizer at two stages had the best effects.

The effects of applying potassium fertilizer at different stages and in different proportions on the physical properties, main chemical compositions, neutral aroma components, and sensory quality of flue-cured tobacco leaves were studied through field experiments conducted in Xiangyang city, Hubei province. The results showed that applying potassium fertilizer at several stages could improve the physical properties of flue-cured tobacco, harmonize the chemical compositions in tobacco leaves, significantly increase the potassium content and organic potassium index of baked tobacco leaves, enhance the content of some important neutral aroma components, and get higher score of sensory quality evaluation. Among various treatments, applying potassium fertilizer at two stages had the best effects.
