Effects of paraffinic oil on peroxide curing and dynamic properties of ethylene-propylenediene monomer (EPDM) were investigated. The resuits measured by moving die rheometer showed that minimum torque, maximum torque and Mooney viscosity all reduced with increasing amounts of oil, while scorch time and cure time extended. The reaction in thermal curing stage of EPDM was of first order. Activation energy of thermal cure of EPDM decreased slightly with the increase of paraffinic oil. The results of frequency scanning of EPDM compound measured by rubber, process analyzer indicated that modulus and loss modulus both decreased, while loss factor increased with inhancin
