Typical types of MES based on geo-synchronous mobile satellite system includes vehicular, portable and hand-held terminals. More lower power consumption is focused on the design of hand-held MES because of limited battery life. According to the air interface of GMR-1, this paper presents a new approach to optimize system-level architecture and combine the different pe- riodic tasks which wake MES based on GMR-1 specification for extending the time of standby. On the premise of performance guarantee, the typical standby power dissipation of baseband core is reduced 20.9% after the new method is applied.
