The solar energy is an inexhaustible, clean, safe and renewable resource. With the greatest development potential among the five kinds of new energy sources, it is considered to be one of the best alternatives to replace fossil energy in the 21st century. The paper introduces the principle, characteristics and development status of solar photovoltaic power generation. Being promoted by the world trend, supported by national policy, and upgraded by the industry itself, the solar photovoltaic power generation will must develop rapidly.
