Objective
To investigate the effects of topical application of a Gold Silk Sericin (GSS) complex on biophysical parameters related to skin ageing.
Methods
A range of non‐invasive bioengineering methods were deployed in an 8‐week randomized, double‐blinded, vehicle‐controlled, split‐face study among 40 female subjects aged 40–70. Endpoints measured included expert grades of skin condition, stratum corneum (SC) hydration, SC barrier function, elasticity and surface topography.
Results
The GSS complex produced significant single‐variable (P < 0.05) improvements in SC hydration, barrier function, elasticity and surface topography compared with the Vehicle control.
Conclusion
The GSS complex examined in this study represents an interesting new cosmetic topical technology with which to address multiple aspects of aged/photoaged female facial skin.
Résumé
Objectif
Pour étudier les effets de l'application topique d'un complexe de soie d'or séricine (GSS) sur les paramètres biophysiques liés au vieillissement de la peau.
Méthodes
Une gamme de méthodes de bio‐ingénierie non invasives a été déployée dans une étude randomisée sur huit semaines, en double aveugle, contre placebo, sur demi‐visage entre les 40 sujets féminins âgés de 40–70 ans. Les paramètres mesurés incluent un scorage expert de l'état de la peau, de la couche cornée (SC), de l'hydratation, la fonction de barrière SC, l'élasticité et la topographie de la surface.
Résultats
Le complexe GSS produit des améliorations significatives (P < 0.05, variable unique) dans le SC, l'hydratation, la fonction de barrière, l'élasticité et la topographie de la surface par rapport au témoin.
Conclusion
Le complexe GSS examiné dans la présente étude représente une nouvelle technologie topique esthétique intéressant pour aborder les multiples aspects de la peau âgée/photovieillie du visage féminin. |
