Summary: | Lombard differentiates primary and secondary sources. The importance of understanding and using primary sources is noted by Frisch: "Primary sources provide the documentation for history as it is being made." Good work is available on this topic, but most consider retrieval and integration of primary sources into the curriculum rather than perceptions that exist about them. In addition, the focus is on students more than faculty. Underlying most of the literature is the assumption that the readers share a common understanding of what constitutes a primary source as opposed to a secondary. |
