| Abstract | Scattering parameters of a quad-port MIMO antenna with 120 × 180 × 1.6 mm3 dimensions for ISM band applications are enhanced in three phases in the MATLAB simulator utilizing an innovative proposed metaheuristic optimization algorithm. In the first phase, physical dimensions of a simple structure printed monopole antenna are tuned to create a strong resonance at 2.45 GHz using the proposed PSO algorithm. In the second phase, the designed antenna is used to establish a dual-port MIMO antenna with 120 × 90 × 1.6 mm3 dimensions, and a decoupling element is located and tuned using the proposed algorithm to make strong isolation between the radiant elements. Finally, another decoupling element is placed and adjusted utilizing the recommended algorithm to obtain substantial isolation between the radiant patches of the quad-port MIMO antenna. The developed algorithm uses new scenarios to avoid trapping at the local minima and approaching the global minima with higher velocity rates than the conventional PSO algorithm. Experimental results confirm −56.41 dB resonance at the 2.45 GHz frequency with 0.6 dBi measured peak gain. Also, proposed dual- and quad-port MIMO antennas can provide isolation better than −65.54 and −36.89 dB between the antenna ports, which are at least −15 dB better than conventional PSO algorithm results. |
