Summary: | In this study, a simultaneous treatment of garbage and wastewater was investigated by conducting an experiment of crushing garbage with a disposer and thereafter dispending the crushed garbage to an improved domestic wastewater treatment tank. During the treatment, optimum operating conditions were studied by varying the method for transferring water in the domestic wastewater treatment tank. The experimental results showed no adverse effects on the quality of treated water after dispending the garbage as compared with that before dispending. In fact, the quality of the treated water showed lower values in TOC and T-N than those obtained by a conventional activated sludge process. The optimum operating conditions in this experiment were achieved such that treated water was transferred from the final sedimentation tank to the raw sewage tank by air-lifting, and that all other water were transferred by over-flow. |
