Summary:The realization of High Speed Rail (HSR) lines generates different type of effects that have been observed and studied in the scientific literature in last decades. The paper focuses on the travel demand models to estimate the effects of HSR on passenger mobility. The HSR travel demand may be segmented into three main components: diverted demand from other modes, or from other rail services, to HSR; induced demand, which can be direct and indirect; economy-based demand growth. The aim is to analyse and highlight the actual trend of scientific publications on the HSR demand analysis, thus identify the existing research gaps and the needs inside this trend, so the necessary future directions of research.
