The documentation introduces a PC-Windows interface module that simplifies the preparation of input data and the presentation of results. It also presents an example application of the model that compares simulated to measured nitrate values. The model is suitable for managing fertilizer applications, and for estimating leachate concentrations reaching ground water aquifers. |

AbstractList | The design and development of a lumped parameter model for the evaluation of nitrogen leaching processes occurring underneath agricultural lands are described. The proposed modeling scheme analyzes N transformation processes, climate information, and the influences of multiple irrigation and fertilizer applications. The analytical nature of the model makes it highly efficient. Data requirements are relatively limited. The preparation of input data and the presentation of results from the system were made much simpler through the introduction of a PC-Windows interface module. Results from a trail simulation of nitrate values for a given plot were compared against results from field assessments of the plot. The best applications of the model are discussed.
